Welcome to Suffer Little Children.
The world is changing, both outside the walls of Hogwarts and inside its walls. What happens when the children within the walls of Hogwarts start taking sides in this impending war? Some because its what is expected of them, others because they think it would be the best thing to do and others just have no choice.
This year marks the sixth year for the Marauders at Hogwarts and another year in Voldemorts growing need to rule the world.

Sirius Black wasn’t really sure why school is still legal as he departed his second to last class of the day. All they do is torture you for countless hours a week and try to shove useless knowledge into your head. Don’t even get him started on tests, they don’t prove anything. Sirius and the rest of the Marauders (besides Remus) were living proof of that. Students like Lily Evans and Remus study their arse off for hours per test and only get a few more points than Sirius who doesn’t study at all. It doesn’t make any sense at all.
Not only are the classes completely pointless, all of the other students who don’t have a Marauders Map are screwed. They only have the castle and the grounds to wander about. Let’s be honest, two a first or second year, maybe even a third year the castle and the grounds is more than enough area to explore. To them the castle is huge by itself, not even looking out at the acres of green grass, forests, and the lake. However, once you get to fourth, fifth, and sixth year you want a little more from Hogwarts. Good thing the Marauders know how to get to Hogsmeade whenever they want, otherwise Sirius would go crazy.
Of course the teachers or the headmaster would never go for any of this. Professor Dumbledore is usually a pretty nice fellow, he listens when you have an issue with something. However, Sirius is pretty sure that he wouldn’t be too fond of a student telling him that school is too much like jail to remain legal for very long. So all Sirius can do for two more years is grin and bear it and try to get a good job after he leaves Hogwarts. He wasn’t too worried about that though, he has a good number of O.W.L.s and the N.E.W.T.s should be a breeze.
Speaking of grinning and bear it, currently this sixth year is sitting in the back row of some unnamed classroom listening to the professor drone on about something silly. Sirius doesn’t even keep track of which classes he goes to and win these days. He just memorizes where in the castle he should go on which days so he doesn’t get a detention for something stupid like skipping class. Detentions are rarely ever deserved and if Sirius as going to get one of those he needed to make it count. Sirius would consult with James later to see what their next prank should be. It had been a while since an infamous Marauder prank had been pulled and Sirius was itching to cause some trouble.
Steel grey eyes were fixated on the parchment in front of him that had writing appear on it like an invisible hand was writing it. Glancing around the classroom he saw his best mate James Potter grinning at him. Sirius averted his eyes from James back to the parchment in front of him. These days James and Sirius seemed to get in trouble just for looking at each other, which is why they were placed across the classroom from each other. He glanced back down at the parchment on the desk with the inked words James had sent still gleaming. The words brought a grin to Sirius’s face as his eyes flicked over the few sentences. He was about to send something back to James when he felt eyes on him. Looking up Sirius quickly spotted the professor glaring at him. Not needing another detention that day, he had already received two for stupid reasons, this sixth year slumped back down into his seat to avoid any more trouble.
When he was finally let out of the classroom, Sirius bolted for the door leading to the grounds. The sun had been shining into the all of the classrooms he had been in today and Sirius could not wait to get outside and enjoy the nice day. He headed to the Marauder’s favorite spot on the grounds, the giant tree by the lack. Plopping his tall frame down on the ground, Sirius rested his head against the tree trunk. His bag fell to the ground before his body even hit, books leaking out slightly. Sirius didn’t seem to notice though as his eyes surveyed the grounds now littered with students.
Sirius loved the sunny, warm weather. Not only was it nice to stay outside instead of inside and soak up the sun, most of the older, female students tried to get away with rolling up their skirts a little and unbuttoning fewer buttons. Trust him when he said that Sirius did not mind at all. His eyes scanned over and halted on a group of fifth year Ravenclaws seated about ten yards away from him. He stared at them for a bit until they noticed he was there, just like he wanted. He continued to stare for a moment or two longer; the girls always looked away first. After he achieved that, Sirius ran a hand through his raven black mane ruffling it up a little. He heard a faint giggle from the direction where the girls were causing a grin to creep onto his face. Sirius loved knowing his little tactics were successful, it is what made him the notorious Sirius Black.
This is where Sirius was stuck. It was a common fact that on Fridays after class the Marauders met outside under this tree. However, Sirius really wanted to go over to the girls and try to snag some action or something at least. Trying to flip his bangs out of his face Sirius ended up smacking his head into the tree trunk behind him. Multiple colorful words escaped his lips as he rubbed the back of his head. Looking around over the grounds, he still did not see a single Marauder. Another sigh slipped out of his mouth as he carefully leaned back against the truck. Whoever approached Sirius first would get his undivided attention. Was it wrong that he hoped it wasn’t his best friends?

Finally it was Friday. The week had dragged by so slowly, even Remus had been bored by school. Time seemed to have been ticking by with every second feeling like a minute; five days at school had felt like ten and it had been quite unbearable. But now it was last period on a Friday which meant not long left before a weekend free of education. The information factory that was school could be forgotten about for two days because so far, Remus was caught up completely on his homework. Currently he was sitting at the front of the classroom taking notes. At least he was supposed to be taking notes but he found his mind wandering, he was now more interested in thinking about what he would be doing later on after class rather than what was going on now.
Remus was sitting at the front because he had long since learned that sitting with James and Sirius was not good for his studies because all they contributed to his learning was a distraction. They were more a hindrance than a help in the classroom so any classes he shared with his friends he generally sat away from them. Besides they spent plenty of time together outside school so it didn’t matter too much that Remus didn’t sit too close to them during school. After what seemed like yet another age, the bell rang signalling the end of the lesson and Remus jumped up, stuffing his parchment, quill and ink into his bag. He was unfortunately though one of the last out the door because he sat one of the furthest from it.
He wondered vacantly why Sirius hadn’t waited for him and James after the lesson seeing as they shared it together and they were all going to the same place afterward. But then Sirius liked to walk the halls alone sometimes, Remus didn’t really know why, probably so he wouldn’t be hindered by his friends if he met some pretty girls along the way. The Gryffindor rolled his eyes. He had much more important things to worry about than girls. Exams for instance. He sometimes marvelled over how relaxed James and Sirius were about school. At the mere mention of a test, Remus started to sweat and the prospect of hours in the library entered his head.
Still, he shouldn’t be worried about that now. The weekend had just begun, it was time to chillax. A smile spread onto his face as he stepped out the oak front doors and felt the fresh air on his face. Remus loved the outdoors and the beech tree was his favourite destination. He loved nothing more than to sit under it with his friends and maybe pull out a good book every once in a while. Perfect. Sirius it seemed was already there, he of course would have been one of the first to escape the glass. Typical, he’d already found a group of girls to flirt with who obviously looked pretty interested in their predator. Remus knew better, Sirius could be bad news so he didn’t feel too bad about raining on his friend’s parade and settling himself down against the trunk of the tree. He might’ve just saved those girls an awful lot of heartbreak.
He grinned at Sirius, ”Padfoot, I think you’ve got a lump raising on the back of your head.” He shrugged and stretched his arms up in the air and yawned loudly. ”Then again, it might have knocked some sense into you.” Suddenly Remus felt quite tired. He glanced up at the sky and saw the moon he had just over a week left until he was fall. He looked away from it quickly and turned his attention back to Sirius. It would do him no good to mull on that, now was for time to have fun with his friends.

Fridays were James' least favorite days as you had to suffer through classes before being let out for the weekend. Who wanted to wait that long? And it sucked because he had the worst classes, though he shared most of them with Remus, Peter, and Sirius as well as Lily. Though he wasn't allowed to sit near Sirius as they were "trouble makers" and in each others presences they didn't pay attention. That was only in some classes, such as the one they were in. James was experiment with a spell as the Professor droned on and on, he wasn't even sure what class he was in anymore, but he knew Lily Evans was in the row in front of him two seats to his left and was flicking her hair with the hand that wasn't scribbling down every word that came out of the teachers mouth. James smiled and looked down at his blank parchment. He flicked his wand and James wrote on the piece of paper Hey Padfoot! Up for a little tomfoolery? Eh? I already have the shampoo ready for Snivellus. James then did his Prongs signature which was definitely the best of the four marauder nickname signings. Peters was small, cramped, messy cursive, Sirius' was haughty and messy, and Remus' was neat and elegant. James was a mixture of Sirius' and Remus' and they had all agreed his was by far the best.
James looked up at Sirius and their gaze met, but before Sirius could see what was on the parchment the Professor made one of his daily checks to give Sirius or James detention because they shared a "haughty glance". James didn't really want a worthless detention like that because it wouldn't even count on Sirius and James' tally. Both of them were determined to win, but the detentions had to be something good, not just because they were talking. Like hexing a Slytherin would be a good cause. Remus didn't want to sit near them as Sirius and himself "took him away from his studies". James looked down at his paper and decided to try to contact Lily Evans. Hey Evans, having fun taking notes? James smiled and wondered how she would take it. The bell rang signaling that the day was over for the marauders. James smiled and looked around for Sirius, but couldn't find him. Maybe he just wanted to get a head start to their tree. Sirius only did like a certain spot or, better yet, he wanted to pick a few girls. James sighed and found he was the last person left in the room. He grabbed his bag off the chair and sprinted out of the room, determined to have a good rest of the day.
James readjusted his bag and swung it over his shoulder. It was depressing how he had been the last one out of the classroom, it was most definitely a first, unless they were planning something or he had detention. James skipped down the hall and surprisingly no one looked at him oddly, they probably knew him well enough not to. James smiled at them and then ran all the way up to the Gryffindor tower. He knew that he was delaying his outside time, but he had to put his stuff away because he was too lazy to have it with him. James threw it on his bed and left just as quickly as he came. He tripped out of the portrait hole and readjusted his glasses. He stuffed his wand in his pocket and used a secret passageway that led him into a couple of dead plants. He smiled as the sun and autumn air hit him with good spirit. He looked at the official marauder birch tree, currently Remus was sliding toward it and Sirius was staring at a couple of girls, trying to look smooth, but bumping his head. James smiled and felt a light weight in his left pocket. When did his invisibility cloak get there? Probably from the day before. James smiled and put on the cloak, tiptoeing till he reached the tree. He threw a smoke bomb and then threw of the cloak and screamed jumping up in front of Remus and Sirius. It was all good as the girls hadn't seen the cloak, that was the most important thing. The cloak was their best weapon.
"Ya know Padfoot you were looking real smooth over hear with those ladies. You almost had me swaying. Too bad we've dated about all of them, except the blond." James sank down into a seat in between Sirius and Remus. "So hows it going fellow marauders? Did ya like my trick in class Siri? You can look at the parchment now..."
